Despite their small size, these felines are excellent hunters.
In the video, the kittens are being fed raw pieces of meat provided by a caretaker using tongs.
“This ensures that the cats do not associate our hands with food, thus preventing bites,” explained Chelsea Davis, a wildlife care specialist at the zoo.
“We also make sure we are far enough away for the cats to feel comfortable approaching us to eat.”
The black-footed wildcat is native to Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa and is among the smallest cats in the world.
However, their size is not proportional to their voracious appetite: they can consume up to 14 rodents and birds in a night, according to the zoo.
The “deadliest cats in the world,” Ryder and Skyler, are still being nursed and do not have such large diets.
